FLINT HILLS RESOURCES TERMINALS EARN HIGHEST SAFETY HONOR FROM INTERNATIONAL LIQUID TERMINALS ASSOCIATION

HOUSTON – Flint Hills Resources today was recognized by the International Liquid Terminals Association for outstanding safety performance and leadership with the Platinum Safety Award.

“This award, now in its second year, recognizes ILTA member companies that excel at safety performance and have a strong commitment to continuous safety improvement at all levels of their organization. It is only available to the best of the best of our industry,” said David Doane, president of ILTA, which is based in Washington, D.C. “Flint Hills Resources terminal operations group was chosen from a select group of companies that have an exemplary safety record. In addition to safety performance in 2007, the selection committee reviewed Flint Hills’ overall performance history and its noteworthy accomplishments, incentives and commitment.”

The award was presented at ILTA’s annual conference in Houston.

“This recognition reflects the dedication that our terminal employees have toward safety,” said Randy Lenz, vice president of the terminals group for Flint Hills Resources. “It’s an outstanding honor for us and sets a high standard for us in the future. We are proud of this accomplishment.”

Flint Hills Resources’ terminals group completed 2007 with no OSHA recordable or lost-time incidents. The industry’s average recordable incident rate is 5.60 and the average LTI rate is 1.10.

Flint Hills Resources owns and operates 23 asphalt and refined products terminals in Algona, Bettendorf, Davenport and Dubuque, Iowa; Marshall, Rosemount, Savage and St. Paul, Minn.; Omaha, Neb.; Fargo, N.D.; Green Bay, Junction City, McFarland, Milwaukee, Stevens Point and Waupun, Wis.; and Cedar Creek, Austin, San Antonio, Waco and Fort Worth, Texas.
